Marcela is a visual artist based in Vancouver, British Columbia, on the unceded territories of the Coast Salish peoples. Born and raised in Brazil, she moved to Canada in 2015. Her work explores what it means to belong in a world divided by made-up borders. Working with pencils, acrylics, collage, watercolors, crayons, mixed media, and digital tools, she tells stories of connection, movement, and play, and of the many relations between humans and the land. Marcela holds a Master’s in Illustration from the BAU College of Arts and Design of Barcelona (2025) and works as an independent artist and illustrator.
